What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy is conducted by a mental health professional who has specialized training in mental health and diagnosis. It is focused on addressing past traumas and hurts and processing through complicated emotions related to depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders. Coaching does not involve a mental health diagnosis and is designed to help you create habits and life skills that will propel you towards greatness. Therapy primarily focuses on the past while coaching focuses on the present and future. Coaches hold you accountable and assist you in addressing the mental roadblocks standing in the way of your goals. It is a specialized approach to gaining self awareness, focusing on personal growth and creating an actionable plan.
Is coaching covered by insurance?
Coaching sessions are future oriented and designed to help you to function at a higher level. Services are not covered through insurance and you can go at your own pace without oversight from your health insurance. You do not receive a mental health diagnosis and you do not need to live in the same state as your coach.
